Ottawa’s leaf vacuum crews scheduled to start Nov. 9 — Springfield Schools news

City of Ottawa crews are scheduled to begin vacuuming leaves Monday, Nov. 9, in areas near the high school south of the Fox River and again southwest of Columbus Street and Gentleman Road, according to a city news release.Crews will work through each part of town at the same time, the release says. After they finish every area, they will make a second pass in the same order.Lawn waste dumpsters will be available through Dec. 1, depending on landfill availability. The city asks residents to use the dumpsters as much as possible.Leaf piles should be on the berm, not in the street, and free of sticks, branches and other debris. The city also asks residents to keep piles away from storm drains and inlets, where wet leaves can clog drains and add to flooding after rain.Drivers should slow down and use caution near crews and expect periodic road closures where crews are working, according to the city.
